Dublin Animation Film Festival is delighted to welcome Damien O’Connor from Brown Bag Films as a guest speaker at Dublin Animation Film Festival 2015.
Damien currently works at Brown Bag Films as an Episodic Director on the number one US preschool show Doc McStuffins for Disney Junior and has previously written and directed four award winning Irish Film Board funded shorts (Mutt, Ledog, Dick Terrapin, After You). His most recent short film ANYA was a unique collaboration between Brown Bag Films and Irish NGO ‘To Russia With Love’ to help highlight the plight of Russian orphans. Since its online release last year ANYA has picked up numerous awards including the Social Recognition Award at Dublin Animation Film Festival in 2014.
Aimed at students and novices alike, From Script To Screen will examine the steps needed to hone that inkling of an idea into a fully-fledged film. Using ANYA as a template, Damien will cover all aspects of production, from idea generation, scripting, storyboarding to animatic building.
The talk will take place on Friday, 16 October 2015 at 11.30 a.m. in the A019 Lecture Theatre in Main Atrium in IADT. This talk is free and open to the public!
Commenting on the festival, Damien had this to say: ‘Having watched the festival grow and evolve over the years, I am delighted to see DAFF is now a firmly established part of the animation industry calendar. As Ireland’s only dedicated animation festival DAFF is a great way for everyone to be involved in the continuing successes of Irish animation, with screenings, high profile international guests and family events and I am delighted to once again be a part of it’.
We are looking forward to welcoming you Damien!
